The extensive lake with its medicinal waters s in the first position among the values in the nature In Europe counts as a uníque sight, that the nenuphars bloom outdoors only in here. The flower became the symbol of the town.

The park of the sanatorium surrounded by horse- chestnut trees belongs to the protected nature values of the town. In the park can be found more than 80-100 year-old trees.

The curative park is a kind of forest of moor. One part of its territory  only limitedly can be visited and it is not recommemded to leave the appointed footways. The lake and  its surrounding forest are affected by each other, according to this, particular local  microclimate developed. Because of the extension of the watery areas, the local climate is more balanced. The forests function as windbreaks. The lake and its surroundings often wraps itself up in its steam.

The west part of the forest  contains spruce,,Austrian pine, larch group of trees, which were planted by Festetics’s. Among the shorter trees the dominant sorts of  trees are the different types of locusts, maples and trees of heaven.

The wineculture is remarkable in Hévíz and its surroundings. It looks back on long traditions in the part of Hévíz, in Egregy. The viniculture was domesticated by the Romans, after that according to the charter from 1221 the Hungarian of the age of Árpáds cultivated the field. The medieval village was destroyed in during the turkish times, and to make up the population german squatters moved to Egregy in the beginning of the eighteenth century. Like their ancestors they carried over the traditional wineculture from Balaton and its surroundings. In 1998 the vineyard of Egregy  was pronounced as a quality wine-grower place and the productive wines in here as the  wines of the region.
